MACCA Scholarship program

The Markham African Caribbean Canadian Association (MACCA) has launched its annual scholarship program and asked that the following information be shared with all secondary students at YCDSB.

will be awarding Scholarships of $1,000 to each selected recipient. Selection is based on students’ involvement and dedication to their community, as well as academic achievements. One outstanding student that excels in these areas and demonstrates that they have gone above and beyond will also receive the President’s Award.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be of Caribbean or African Heritage
  • Applicants must reside and attend school in York Region or volunteered at a MACCA Program for at least two years
  • Applicants must be accepted and enrolled in full-time studies at an accredited Canadian college, University trade school/ apprenticeship program during the 2020-2021 academic year.
  • Applicants must provide proof of community involvement and extracurricular participation
  • Applicants must have an overall academic average of B+ or above
