Catholic Education Week May 1- 6 2022: “Rebuild, Restore, Renew Together”

Catholic Education Week logo

Each year, Catholic school boards across Canada come together to celebrate the Gospel values and teachings that enrich our curriculum and strengthen our school communities.

The theme of Catholic Education Week 2022, “Rebuild, Restore, Renew Together”, is inspired by the transformative power of faith – for families, for students, for the world.

From May 1st – 6th, all members of York Catholic will gather as a joyful collective, taking part in a wide range of events – all designed to connect students and staff with important growth and development opportunities. Sub themes for the week are Rediscover, Rebuild, Restore, Renew, and, Rejoice.

As a special tribute to Catholic Education Week, The YCDSB announces the recipients of their Distinguished Alumni Awards for 2022. The annual award showcases the significant contribution publicly-funded Catholic education makes to diverse sectors including the arts, sports, science/technology, broadcasting, medicine, and, philanthropy. Since 2005, the YCDSB has honoured alumni who have achieved a high level of professional success, making valuable, and, unique contributions to their communities, both in Canada and globally.

In fellowship, we invite you to join in the Official Prayer for Catholic Education Week 2022:

God of Grace,
Help us to rediscover how to be side by side in rebuilding our communities of faith and learning. Help us restore harmony and balance in our relationships, and renew our desire to approach challenges confidently and with peaceful hearts. May we always rejoice in recognizing the blessings our lives hold.

Amen.

Through this year’s theme, “Rebuild, Restore and Renew Together” Catholic Education Week 2022 calls all participants to see themselves – and a brighter future –  in a global context.

As individuals, and as members of a Catholic Faith community there is much to celebrate, but also much to do. In understanding the ongoing effects of issues including the pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and Indigenous Truth & Reconciliation, staff and students can find new opportunities to move forward through renewed commitment to action, discipleship, and compassion.
