On Thursday, May 11, 2023, the Technology Department of Holy Cross Catholic Academy hosted a Grade 7 Tech Night. This was an exciting event which gave students and their families a glimpse into the various technology programs offered at the school. The event provided an opportunity for future students to explore the Hospitality & Tourism, Cosmetology, Construction, Automotive, Computer Engineering and Communications Technology classrooms and learn more about what each program has to offer.
In the Hospitality & Tourism classroom, students were able to get hands-on experience in food preparation and service, learning about the various techniques and skills required for a career in the hospitality industry. They were able to sample some of the dishes prepared by the students and learn about the different careers available in this field. In the Cosmetology classroom, students had the chance to observe hair and special effects makeup techniques, learning about the tools and products used in the beauty industry. The Construction classroom showcased the various materials and techniques used in construction, giving students a glimpse into the world of carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work. Students were able to explore different tools and equipment used in the construction industry. The Automotive classroom provided students with an opportunity to explore the world of car maintenance and repair, as well as automotive design and engineering. They were able to learn about the different systems of a car and see some of the tools and equipment used by automotive technicians. In the Collaborative Learning classroom, students explored different tools and equipment available for students to use in the Grade 9 Technology course, and also received a Holy Cross phone holder. The Computer Engineering and Communications technology classroom gave students a glimpse into the world of technology, programming, and software development. They were able to learn about the different programming languages and software applications used in computer engineering, as well as explore the tools and equipment used in this field.
Overall, the Grade 7 Technology Night at Holy Cross Catholic Academy was a fantastic opportunity for future students to explore the various technology programs offered at the school. The event provided a glimpse into the different careers available in these fields, as well as the skills and techniques required for success. We look forward to welcoming these students back for the 2024-2025 school year!
